The beautiful north coast of Northern Ireland is an ideal destination for cyclists. Winding coastal roads take you all around the north coast to some picture postcard villages, the famous Glens of Antrim, the Giants Causeway and the famous dark hedges as seen on Game of Thrones are all accessible by bike. Quiet roads, punchy climbs and smooth tarmac make Portrush and the surrounding area a real dream location for cyclists.

With our fantastic accommodation situated in Portrush we have the whole place to ourselves. All you need to do us decide which route you wish to take.

Accommodation

Your home for the weekend will be in the beautiful seaside town of Portrush, a real gem on the stunning north coast.

There is a generous open plan kitchen and lounge area. Bathroom suites with walk-in showers and toilets and separate toilets.

The entire accommodation has been booked out making it exclusive to the Ascend members on the trip!

Itinerary

Day 1.

Friday 14th June | 65km/40 miles

Arrive at approximately 10am. Coffee and pastry on arrival.

Riders meet at the accommodation reception at approximately 11.30am with groups of riders rolling out on a 65km social paced loop with a coffee stop.

The pace will be relaxed and you’ll have the opportunity to meet our organisers and chat to the ride guides before mixing with your fellow riders and compare plans for the following day.

Dinner will be at a local restaurant situated within walking distance from the accommodation.

Day 2.

Saturday 15th June | 90km/56 miles, 135km/84 miles

A continental breakfast will be served at the accommodation.

On Saturday we offer two route options, an intermediate ( 90km ) and an advanced longer option ( 135km ). Both rides will leave at 10.30am. All routes take in the rolling terrain with the advanced and longer route climbing one of the local iconic climbs. Both routes will have coffee stop options.

Riders will then make their way back to the accomodation for a well-earned drink before getting ready for a delicious meal which will be served at the accommodation.  You can relive the day’s events with your fellow riders before retiring to your room to prepare for day 3.

Day 3.

Sunday 16th June | 80km/50 miles, 120km/75 miles

A continental breakfast will be served at the accommodation.

On Sunday we offer two route options, an intermediate ( 80km ) and a longer option ( 120km ). All routes take in the rolling terrain with the longer route climbing more and riding further. Both routes will have coffee stop options.

Riders will then make their way back to the accomodation for a well-earned drink, We will then travel for a delicious meal in a local restaurant and a prize giving ceremony. After this we’ll reconvene back at the accommodation where you can relive the day’s events with your fellow riders before retiring to your room to prepare for day 4.

Day 4.

Monday 17th June | 60km/37 miles, 90km/56 miles

On Monday we offer two route options, a social ( 60km ) and an intermediate ( 90km ) All routes take in the rolling terrain with the intermediate route climbing more and riding further. Both routes will have coffee stop options.

Riders will then make their way back to the accomodation for a well-earned drink.  After this we’ll reconvene in reception ready for the return coach back to the airport. Pick up at 4.30pm.

What you’ll need…

  • Suitable clothing for the weather conditions
  • Insurance
  • Bike tools and spare innertubes or sealant

The cycling…

Rider abilities vary and you consider carefully if this ride is for you.

The rides will be on rolling roads with some testing climbs but we do offer alternative routes that avoid the steepest climbs if needed.
